Brightspeed, the nation’s third-largest fiber broadband builder, has officially announced an expansion of its reliable, high-speed fiber network, which is now available to more than 131,000 homes and businesses across Pennsylvania.
According to certain reports, the company also took this opportunity to unveil an investment of more than $42,500, which will go towards supporting the communities it serves throughout the state. This the company will do through a new, super-fast fiber internet network in and around the state. Once completed, Brightspeed’s network will reach a total of over 190,000 fiber-enabled locations across Pennsylvania.
Talk about the communities in which Brightspeed is building its smart, fiber optics-based network, they include Butler, where the company is looking to connect more than 18,000 locations.
Next up, we have Chambersburg, a community where Brightspeed’s new fiber will bring access to 18,000 residents and small businesses.
Joining that mix would be Mount Joy. Here, Brightspeed has already completed over 6,000 locations. Out of those, 4,600 are ready for installation, whereas on the other hand, an estimated 2,200 locations are currently under construction. As for when the stated construction is complete, the resulting infrastructure will ensure that more than 8,900 locations have seamless access to Brightspeed’s fiber network.
Another community coming into play would be of Gettysburg, where 5,500 locations already have access to Brightspeed’s fiber network. Having said so, upon the completion of relevant construction work, almost 9,000 locations should have access to the same.
Among other locations, there are Fayetteville and New Oxford. These two communities are expecting to have well over 7,000 families and businesses a shot at enjoying high-speed fiber internet.
Markedly enough, this whole initiative will build upon Brightspeed’s recent efforts to support local schools, public spaces, and other resources in Pennsylvania.
The efforts in question include a donation worth $2,500 to Communities in Schools PA, a nonprofit which is focused on providing resources and enhancing educational success for students across Pennsylvania.
Furthermore, the company provided $25,000 sponsorship to the Carlisle Family YMCA in Carlisle, PA, all for supporting a non-profit of its choice. Brightspeed also made a donation of $15,000 to Janson Foundation in Columbia, PA, a donation which was to facilitate the construction of a new park.
The company even confirmed a decision to match any other donations made until the end of August 2025.
Apart from that, Brightspeed has invested a total of $28,000 in four different schools across Central Pennsylvania. The said support came in the form of naming Donegal High School’s softball field in Mount Joy, PA, as well as becoming a sponsor of the student parking lot at Elizabethtown High School. The company also named Columbia High School’s baseball field and the student section at Hempfield High School in Mountville, PA.
In case that wasn’t enough, Brightspeed has supported Carlisle Area Chamber of Commerce with sponsorships of all its 2025 ribbon-cutting events, while simultaneously sponsoring its bi-annual Buy Local campaign.
Rounding up highlights would be the company’s bid to support Hanover Area Chamber of Commerce and memberships in the Chamber of Gettysburg & Adams County, along with the Cumberland Valley Business Alliance.
“At Brightspeed, we believe that giving back to our communities is an important part of our company culture and business strategy,” said John Mizerak, director of Government Affairs at Brightspeed. “We are committed to supporting and making a positive difference in the communities where we live and work, which is why we are making substantial investments.”
Among other things, we ought to mention that, in line with a multi-billion-dollar investment drive, Brightspeed is currently expanding its fiber-optic network to reach more than 4 million homes and businesses across 20 states. To facilitate this drive, the company is actively pursuing state and federal funding, including BEAD program funding.
Founded in 2022, Brightspeed’s rise up the ranks stems from deploying a state-of-the-art fiber network and a customer experience which makes being connected simpler than ever before. The company’s excellence in what it does can also be understood once you consider its proprietary network is presently serving more than 6.5 million homes and businesses.
