Telit Cinterion, an end-to-end IoT solutions enabler, is officially set to showcase nine major vertical market opportunities for its NExT™ IoT Connectivity Starter Kit.
According to certain reports, the stated free and well-provisioned cellular plan SIM testing kit is designed to help systems integrators, along with device OEMs and IoT service providers, quickly evaluate device management, remote SIM provisioning, billing, security, and other key capabilities for a wide variety of B2B and B2C applications and services.
More on the same would reveal how NExT is Telit Cinterion’s secure mobile core network which provides 2G, 3G, 4G LTE, Cat M, NB-IoT and 5G native IoT connectivity from over 600 carriers in 200-plus countries. As for what the kit in question includes, it holds evaluation data plans for NExT, up to five SIM cards with 150 MB of data each, 15 SMS messages, and complimentary access to its award-winning connectivity management tool.
Talk about the whole value proposition on a slightly deeper level, the NExT starter kit enables testing of cellular IoT applications across all industries. These industries include agriculture, where soil temperatures and moisture levels relay the importance of continually updated information for farming and ranching operations. Here, cellular is ideal for harvesting data from remote sensors and then acting on it in for turning irrigation equipment on or off, even if it is located hundreds of miles away.
The next use case would be in asset tracking. As asset tracking provides location, status and other vital information about high-value assets, Telit’s cellular insights should support a wide variety of business needs, such as monitoring cargo temperatures, ensuring deliveries for just-in-time manufacturing, and using geofencing to quickly locate stolen construction equipment or errant livestock.
“The internet of things is quickly evolving into the internet of everything, but one thing remains the same: A reliable cellular connection is key to unlocking the full potential of every application,” said Eybi Israel, Head of Connectivity Business Unit at Telit Cinterion. “Telit Cinterion created the NExT IoT connectivity starter kit to make it quick and easy to evaluate our cellular plans, services and connectivity management platform, particularly with innovative B2B and B2C applications requiring all top trending mobile network and SIM technologies.”
Then, there is technology’s potential in EV charging. We say so because a growing number of state and federal regulations require charging network operators to ensure that their public chargers are operational at least 97% of the time. Hence, a reliable cellular connection is critical for remotely monitoring and troubleshooting the same, particularly ones along rural interstates and other remote locations where range anxiety is highest.
Another possible application of the given technology would be in healthcare, where 4G and 5G provide a secure connection to protect patient data and overcome challenges, such as connecting patients who do not have home internet access. By doing so, it facilities a better brand of remote monitoring for vital signs and extends care to people who cannot easily travel to a clinic. The retail sector also stands to gain from such a setup, considering a reliable cellular connection helps maximize revenue and customer satisfaction. This it does by ensuring that vending machines and kiosks are fully stocked and fully operational, including their point-of-sale terminals.
Joining the list of beneficiaries would be security and surveillance as police, school districts and businesses all rely on high-resolution video to protect people and property. In that regard, cellular provides the flexibility to install cameras and other sensors in the ideal locations, including temporary ones such as festival sites and crime hot spots.
Even the utilities space can bank upon the technology to provide data for maximizing billing accuracy, safety, efficiency, and production, including for renewables such as solar, hydro, and wind. One can understand significance of this upon considering that, no matter whether it is natural gas, water or electricity, utilities need access to instant and granular insights into every aspect of their operations.
Among other sectors with a possible use for Telit’s cellular kit, we have telematics and digital signage.
