Calix, Inc. has officially announced the launch of GigaSpire® 7u6m mesh Wi-Fi 7 extender, which is designed to expand its industry-leading Unlimited Subscriber™ portfolio.
According to certain reports, the stated technology arrives on the scene bearing an ability to help broadband service providers (BSPs) access greater flexibility in the context of delivering advanced managed services that meet growing subscriber demands.
More on the same would reveal how, later this year, Calix will release four new Wi-Fi 7 systems, geared towards serving the needs of residential, small business, commercial, and high-density multi-dwelling unit (MDU) environments.
Markedly enough, each of these systems will effectively integrate with the Calix Broadband Platform to help BSPs mix and match solutions across their networks, all for the purpose of growing revenue through differentiated SmartLife™ experiences. These experiences include fully connected and immersive smart homes, low-latency connectivity for cloud-based business applications, and reliable managed Wi-Fi for tech-savvy MDU residents.
Every Wi-Fi 7 system from Calix is understood to be backward compatible, something which treads up a long distance to facilitate seamless mixed deployments, while simultaneously protecting previous investments. Furthermore, the given technology is also Wi-Fi Alliance certified.
Now, we referred to how these Wi-Fi systems will integrate with Calix proprietary technology, but what we haven’t mentioned yet is how it can also lead to streamlined operations, and scalable growth. Beyond that, there is an optional XGS-PON ONT integration which, in turn, ensures frictionless deployment and readiness for Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD)-funded expansion.
“We’ve become a top-rated provider in the Florida and Georgia communities we serve by boldly pursuing our mission to deliver advanced internet experiences,” said Michael Shorey, product manager, LiveOak Fiber. “Adopting Wi-Fi 6 was a turning point in how we serve subscribers—so the move to Wi-Fi 7 had to be just as seamless. Thanks to the Calix Platform, we’re expanding our managed Wi-Fi offerings with ease, supporting everyone from serious gamers to local businesses relying on cloud computing. The new systems announced today can be seamlessly integrated into our network, providing yet another powerful option to enhance our impact.”
Talk about Calix’s upcoming Wi-Fi 7 systems on a slightly deeper level, we begin from GigaSpire 7u6, a system focused on bringing expanded access to multigigabit services for homes and small businesses. The solution can also elevate connected living through SmartHome™, boost small business productivity with SmartBiz™, and deliver high-performance experiences for apartment dwellers using SmartMDU™.
Next up, we must dig into a pair of Calix’s GigaSpire 7u10t.2 and 7u10txg.2 systems that are optimized performance for gamers, streamers, and remote workers. We get to say so because they can very well strengthen the stickiness of SmartHome managed services with extreme performance for demanding home applications. As a result, BSPs can seamlessly deliver ultra-responsive experiences for remote workers, content creators, and power users.
At launch, the pair in question supports Wi-Fi, voice, Ethernet, and more.
Rounding up highlights would be the GigaPro 7p6, a system capable of delivering wired-like speeds via wireless connectivity for small businesses, commercial spaces, and MDUs. The GigaPro® 7p6 will, in essence, support high-density, low-latency connectivity.
If we talk about BSPs deploying SmartMDU, the 7p6 will be able to support shared amenities like security systems, tenant Wi-Fi, and back-office networks. BSPs can also reduce wiring costs and simplify deployment using Power over Ethernet (PoE).
For business environments like office buildings, warehouses, and manufacturing facilities, the 7p6c plans on extending SmartBiz capabilities, such as cybersecurity and simplified network segmentation, to power advanced digital displays, real-time automation, and more.
“With the advancement of Calix Wi-Fi 7 innovation, broadband service providers gain powerful options to deliver differentiated experiences and drive growth across nearly every subscriber segment,” said Shane Eleniak, chief product officer at Calix. “Calix keeps its customers at the forefront of a rapidly evolving industry by giving them the options to grow and transform their business on their terms. The industry’s only cloud, software, and appliance-enabled platform is built for broadband service providers of any size, helping them streamline operations, innovate standout subscriber experiences, and grow long-term value for their business and communities.”
